About The Position

This position provides expert daily maintenance and repair support for kitchen equipment within a specific geographic area at Intermountain Healthcare. Kitchen equipment is specialized and frequently complex. The skill set to perform in-depth maintenance and complicated troubleshooting and repair is very specific and developed over many years. The person in this role will support on-site maintenance caregivers in performing advanced maintenance and repairs on all types of kitchen equipment. This position reports to the Facilities Programs Director and works directly with service line leaders and frontline caregivers in helping ensure compliance, adherence to required standards, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment within their assigned area of the system.

Requirements

  • 5 years of kitchen equipment maintenance experience
  • 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience AND demonstrated aptitude to learn kitchen equipment maintenance
  • Demonstrated communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to influence, lead multiple teams, and manage conflicting or ambiguous priorities
  • Ability to multi-task and be a member of a successful team
  • Experience using office computer programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and e-mail
  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with minor electrical work and the ability to understand electrical diagrams
  • Speaking English, hearing/ listening, seeing, manual dexterity
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. regularly, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, standing.

  • Kitchen equipment manufacturer’s maintenance certifications or training

Responsibilities

  • Support on-site maintenance caregivers in performing advanced maintenance and repairs on all types of kitchen equipment.
  • Diagnose, plan for, order parts, and install parts in support of work needed to keep kitchen equipment available, safe, and functional.
  • Train and educate frontline maintenance and nutrition services caregivers on their responsibilities relative to the equipment and on proper operation of the equipment.
  • Stay current in understanding best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to kitchen equipment in healthcare environments.
  • Use a wide variety of computer programs including PeopleSoft Maintenance Manager, Microsoft Office, and Intermountain’s business applications.
  • Work with customers in high-stress and ambiguous situations, while maintaining a positive and supportive demeanor.
  • Represent the Maintenance Department in meetings about kitchen equipment, and participate in discussions about ongoing operations and planning.
  • Understand the basics of operational and capital finance and Intermountain’s processes for funding operations, tracking financial performance, and resolving financial problems.
