About The Position

Step into a rewarding interpreting role where your language expertise helps ensure clear communication and equal access for individuals with limited English proficiency. This is a short-term onsite contract opportunity for a professional Kirundi interpreter to support scheduled assignments in Fort Worth, Texas. You will provide professional onsite Kirundi interpreting services, facilitating accurate and culturally appropriate communication between English-speaking professionals and Kirundi-speaking clients. This assignment requires exceptional language proficiency, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to interpret accurately in real time.

Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in both Kirundi and English.
• Previous professional interpreting experience preferred.
• Excellent listening, memory retention, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, impartiality, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in onsite environments.
• Reliable transportation to assignments within Fort Worth, TX.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience interpreting in healthcare, legal, social services, education, or government settings.
• Professional interpreter training or certification.
• Strong cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different subject matters and professional environments.
• Interpreter certification is preferred but not required.
• Completion of interpreter ethics or confidentiality training is a plus.
• Additional education in interpreting, translation, languages, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive interpreting between English and Kirundi during onsite appointments.
• Facilitate clear communication while preserving the meaning, tone, and intent of all parties.
• Maintain impartiality and confidentiality throughout each assignment.
• Arrive promptly and prepared for scheduled appointments on August 25 and August 26.
• Communicate professionally with clients, coordinators, and service providers.
• Clarify linguistic or cultural nuances when appropriate without adding, omitting, or altering information.
• Adhere to BridgeVoice Interpreters' standards of ethics and professional conduct.
• Complete assignment documentation or time records as required.
