About The Position

The Kettle Worker rings bells at assigned locations as part of The Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising efforts. As the first point of public contact for the fundraising campaign, the worker is expected to provide courteous, friendly, and professional customer service. Duties are performed at outdoor kettle stands and include greeting the public, answering questions or directing people to an appropriate Salvation Army representative, and collecting donations. The worker follows instructions, works independently with limited supervision, and keeps the kettle attended except during authorized breaks at a secure location. The position is seasonal, with various and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work takes place outdoors in changing weather and may involve noise, dust, dirt, frequent interruptions, and contact with people who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated. Workers must meet attendance requirements, wear Salvation Army-provided identification and any required clothing, and complete a daily time card. A criminal history information check is required; a conviction does not automatically preclude employment. The Salvation Army has a dress code, which is provided at employment or orientation.
