About The Position

K9 Handlers help ensure the safety of employees and guests by working with a trained and certified detection dog to locate suspicious packages or objects. The role includes using the canine to protect life and property at MGM Resorts International facilities and support designated operations. Handlers search vehicles, executive aircraft, packages, backpacks, mail, containers, rooms, buildings, areas, and other objects for explosive materials or weapons. They also maintain the dog's detection proficiency, health and welfare, assigned equipment, and kennel, and provide excellent service to guests and employees. Duties are performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Train and certify with a detection-trained dog.
• Use the canine as directed to protect life and property at MGM Resorts International facilities and support designated operations.
• Search vehicles, MGM Resorts International executive aircraft, packages, backpacks, mail, containers, rooms, buildings, areas, and other objects for explosive materials or weapons.
• Maintain the canine's detection proficiency through routine training and certification.
• Maintain the day-to-day health and welfare of assigned detection dogs, including diet, adequate water, daily health checks, and grooming.
• Maintain assigned canine-related equipment.
• Conduct daily kennel care.
• Provide basic canine emergency first aid as needed.
• Provide excellent guest service to guests and employees.
