About The Position

JJYS Technician II-Millcreek Youth Center is a full-time position with a salary of $15.53, requiring on-site work. The role involves working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS, monitoring visitors and residents, scheduling and coordinating youth activities, assisting with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety. New hires will participate in a week of New Employee Training and a week of de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The position also includes transporting youth and providing intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs for youth offenders while assuring public safety. Effective written communication is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Candidates 19 years of age or older
Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
Candidates that speak multiple languages
A valid Utah Driver's License

Responsibilities

Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
Participate in one week of New Employee Training
Participate in one week of verbal and physical de-escalation training
Transport Youth
Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety
Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
