JJYS Technician I - Cache Valley Youth Center
About The Position
The JJYS Technician I - Cache Valley Youth Center is a part-time, on-site position focused on working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS. This role involves monitoring visitors and residents, scheduling and coordinating youth activities, assisting with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations using appropriate intervention techniques. New hires will undergo a week of New Employee Training and a week of verbal and physical de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The position provides a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs for youth offenders while ensuring public safety. Responsibilities include clear written and verbal communication, multi-tasking (answering phones, scheduling visits, operating a control board), and teaching pro-social behavior skills while implementing specialized treatment plans.
Requirements
- Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays
- Background Check Required
- Drug Test Required
Nice To Haves
- Candidates 19 years of age or older
- Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
- Candidates that speak multiple languages
- A valid Utah Driver's License
Responsibilities
- Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
- Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
- Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
- Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
- Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
- Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
- Multi-tasking: Answering phones, scheduling visits, working the Control Board which opens doors for staff
- Mentorship & Rehabilitation: Teach pro-social behavior skills and implement specialized treatment plans
