JJYS Technician II-Millcreek Youth Center
About The Position
This is a Full-Time or Part-Time position for a JJYS Technician II at the Millcreek Youth Center. The role involves working closely with youth in the care and custody of JJYS, monitoring visitors and residents, scheduling and coordinating activities, assisting the Control Supervisor with perimeter checks, and resolving potentially dangerous situations. New hires will undergo a week of New Employee Training and a week of verbal and physical de-escalation training within the first 90 days. The position also includes transporting youth and providing a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs while assuring public safety. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Requirements
- Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends and holidays
- Candidates 19 years of age or older
- Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
- A valid Utah Driver's License

Responsibilities
- Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
- Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
- Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
- Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
- Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
- Transport Youth
- Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)
