About The Position

This is a contract role for a Java Developer specializing in AWS Cloud Migration. The client is CareFirst BCBS, and the position is located in Reston, VA, with a hybrid work model requiring one day onsite per week. The initial duration is 3 months with a possible extension. The role focuses on migrating Java applications from legacy/on-prem systems to AWS, specifically requiring experience with healthcare clients. The developer will be responsible for backend development only, with no frontend work involved.

Requirements

• 10-12+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Microservices experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS Cloud Migration experience (moving applications to AWS, not just infrastructure).
• Experience with healthcare clients.
• Strong IBM MQ experience.
• Strong database experience: SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with JUnit/TestNG for unit/integration testing.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be able to work onsite in Reston 1 day per week.
• Must be a USC, GC, or H1B (Genuine GC needed).

Nice To Haves

• Cloud Q / Amazon Q experience is a big plus.
• Experience as a Senior/Lead Java Backend Developer.

Responsibilities

• Migrate Java applications from legacy/on-prem systems to AWS.
• Develop using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Utilize AWS services such as EKS, EC2, Lambda, and API Gateway.
• Work with databases including SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Perform unit and integration testing using JUnit/TestNG.
• Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum environment.
