About The Position

ZipStaff is hiring a Sr. Java Developer for a client described as a global IT services and consulting organization. The role designs and enhances cloud-native applications using Java and AWS, including scalable microservices and serverless workflows built with AWS Lambda. The developer works with cross-functional and DevOps teams in an Agile environment. This is an approximately five-month, fully remote W2 contract role based in the United States.

Requirements

Senior-level professional experience developing applications in Java.
Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture.
Proven experience designing and building microservices.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and code review skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Must be based in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs.
Experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS, and Step Functions.
Infrastructure-as-code experience with CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
AWS certification.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications primarily using Java.
Implement serverless functions and workflows using AWS Lambda and related AWS services.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that follows coding standards.
Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment.
Troubleshoot, debug, and promptly resolve production issues.
Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Contribute to architectural decisions and provide technical guidance.
Improve system reliability, scalability, and maintainability through refactoring.
