About The Position

The Janitorial Team Member is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing public areas, meeting rooms, and bathrooms at Montclair State University Ice Arena. The role also provides courteous, friendly service to guests by answering questions and giving directions as needed. The position is full-time and non-exempt, located in Little Falls, New Jersey, and reports to the Operations Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or currently working toward one.
Ability to work a variety of shifts and a flexible schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
Ability to take direction and follow through.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds as necessary.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, squat, stoop, or bend, and navigate the facility for long periods.

Nice To Haves

Housekeeping, janitorial, or porter experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform general cleanup of building areas as directed.
Monitor the facility for spills and clean them as needed.
Clean facility floor surfaces and glass.
Clean and maintain bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and restocking supplies.
Clean guest seating and the lobby area.
Remove facility trash and recycling; prepare bins for weekly pickup.
Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management.
Provide courteous and friendly service to guests, answering questions and giving directions as needed.
Perform non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders.
Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
