About The Position

The Janitor Team Member is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing public areas, meeting rooms, bathrooms, and other areas of the Montclair State University Ice Arena. The role includes routine and non-routine cleaning, responding to spills and urgent cleaning requests, and providing courteous assistance and directions to guests. This is a full-time, non-exempt position managed by Sports Facilities Management, LLC.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required, or currently working toward one.
• Willingness to work a variety of shifts.
• Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Availability for a flexible schedule that includes a combination of evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds as necessary.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and squat, stoop, or bend.

Nice To Haves

• Housekeeping, janitorial, or porter experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleanup throughout the building as directed.
• Monitor for spills throughout the facility and clean them as needed.
• Clean facility floor surfaces and glass.
• Clean and maintain bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and restocking supplies.
• Clean guest seating and the lobby area.
• Remove facility trash and recycling, including daily removal and preparing bins for weekly pickup.
• Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management.
• Provide courteous and friendly service to guests and answer questions or provide directions as needed.
• Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders.
• Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
