About The Position

Class 5 gym in Torrance is seeking part-time graveyard janitorial staff to perform general cleaning and restocking in assigned areas of the gym. The role helps create a positive, comfortable environment for members. Shifts are predominantly overnight: Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. Travel to various work locations or sites may be required. The position involves cleaning floors, equipment, locker rooms, showers, restrooms, lockers, program rooms, common areas, and other surfaces; replenishing supplies; handling waste; responding to spills; monitoring cleaning supplies; and following safety procedures when using chemicals and equipment. The employee collaborates with staff on maintenance issues and reports damages. Starting pay is $23 per hour. Individual compensation decisions may depend on factors including facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job or position tenure. Requirements

Ability to operate janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies, including vacuum cleaners and cleaning compounds and solutions.
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and the use of cleaning agents and equipment.
Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols related to cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Effective communication skills to interact with gym members and staff in a friendly, professional manner.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to push at least 30 pounds and lift at least 30 pounds.
Ability to go up and down stairs.
Ability to work in tight or enclosed spaces, at heights, and in temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors.
Ability to bend at the waist, sit, kneel, lie horizontally, climb, and walk as required.
May need normal hearing protection, such as ear plugs, due to noise levels.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, and vacuum gym and climbing-area floors, keeping them free of debris, dirt, and hazards.
Clean and disinfect gym equipment, machines, and weights.
Clean and sanitize locker rooms, showers, and restrooms, and replenish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
Clean the outside, top, and inside of gym lockers and place lost-and-found items in the appropriate location.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste according to established guidelines.
Wipe and sanitize windows, mirrors, countertops, seating areas, and other surfaces.
Dust and clean common areas, including reception desks, waiting areas, and hallways.
Clean yoga, spin, and fitness program rooms, including mopping floors, wiping walls, windows, and windowsills, and keeping shelves and props tidy.
Monitor cleaning-supply inventory and report shortages to the supervisor for restocking.
Respond promptly to cleaning needs and spills to prevent accidents or injuries and make areas safe.
Follow safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment.
Collaborate with staff on maintenance issues, report damages, and contribute to a positive team environment.
