About The Position

Maintain the store’s appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards while supporting the company’s Brand Promises. Provide friendly customer service and help customers find what they need. The role includes cleaning assigned areas and high-traffic spaces, keeping equipment orderly, and following applicable procedures and guidelines. It may also include other store duties such as checkout, customer rewards enrollment, omnichannel tasks, truck unloading, stocking, and safety and shrink programs. This position is based in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be assigned, such as retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The role uses standard commercial cleaners and cleaning chemicals. Michaels requires team members in this role to be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Ability to work in the described retail environment, including possible outdoor work and use of standard commercial cleaning products and chemicals.

Responsibilities

Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean properly, then return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using provided materials and equipment; prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications when needed.
Deep-clean areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic spaces.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify the supervisor in advance when supplies need replenishment.
Identify areas that need cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor and perform work in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive, respectful interactions with team members and customers and serve as a positive role model.
As assigned, provide checkout service, handle cash, promote rewards and private-label credit card programs, and complete enrollments.
As assigned, support Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS), Ship from Store (SFS), truck unloading, stocking, planograms, shrink prevention, and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
