About The Position

Maintain the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards while delivering the company’s Brand Promises. Provide friendly customer service and help customers find what they need. Perform janitorial duties such as collecting and disposing of trash, dusting and damp-mopping floors, moving and replacing equipment and products for cleaning, and cleaning assigned areas with designated materials and equipment. Prepare cleaning solutions when needed, deep-clean high-traffic areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, and entryways, keep cleaning equipment orderly, and notify a supervisor of supply needs. Identify areas requiring attention, complete assigned tasks, and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines. Maintain positive, respectful interactions with customers and team members and serve as a positive role model. Other duties as assigned may include checkout and cash handling, promoting and enrolling customers in Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs, supporting buy-online-pickup-in-store and ship-from-store processes, unloading trucks, stocking, planogram work, and supporting shrink and safety programs. Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards. This is a public retail-store environment. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stockrooms may not be; outdoor work may occur when retrieving carts or unloading trucks. The role uses standard commercial cleaners and cleaning chemicals. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The position may be eligible for overtime compensation under applicable state and local laws. Applicants in the U.S. must meet applicable legal requirements, and Michaels requires team members in this role to be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines and company procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete supervisor-assigned tasks and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations, and model a positive image.
As assigned, provide checkout service, handle cash, promote and enroll customers in Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs, support BOPIS and SFS processes, unload trucks, stock merchandise, complete planogram processes, and support shrink and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards.
