About The Position

Janitorial Staff at Mel Trotter Ministries help protect a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for guests and team members by keeping facilities clean, sanitary, and ready for daily services. The role includes consistent, detail-focused upkeep of indoor areas and seasonal outdoor spaces, laundry, restocking, and reporting safety or supply concerns. The position supports the organization’s faith-based mission of providing shelter and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written instructions and safety standards.
• Reliable, steady work habits and attention to detail.
• Comfort performing physical, hands-on cleaning tasks indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Clean floors, restrooms, tables, counters, chairs, doors, and window glass.
• Restock restroom supplies and other supplies as needed.
• Sort and dispose of trash properly.
• Launder bedding and towels using laundry equipment.
• Perform seasonal exterior tasks, including sidewalk snow removal, parking lot and grounds cleanup, and landscaping upkeep.
• Follow safety rules and OSHA guidelines.
• Use and dispose of cleaning tools and products according to manufacturer instructions.
• Check priority areas and prepare a cart so busy spaces are ready early.
• Reset rooms after use and monitor for spills or safety concerns.
• Coordinate touch-ups when schedules change.
• Stage supplies for the next shift and communicate maintenance or safety items requiring follow-up.
• Promptly report safety concerns or supply needs.
