About The Position

A Janitor is responsible for keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. The role involves cleaning interior building spaces and maintaining a safe, orderly work environment. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, electrical shock risks, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Follow instructions and management direction, take responsibility for actions, keep commitments, and complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan.
• Be willing to commit to long hours when necessary to reach goals.
• Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities

• Clean building interiors, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and other areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairs, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Remove stains from chairs and upholstered furniture.
• Dust furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings.
• Empty and clean trash cans and ashtrays.
• Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
• Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies there and where required.
• Wash and clean windows and mirrors.
• Empty trash and recycling containers into the disposal area.
• Remove trash and snow from sidewalks when necessary.
• Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and request missing materials from supervisors when applicable.
• Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.
• Maintain a cleaning chart indicating areas that were cleaned and inspected.
• Follow safety and precautionary rules.
• Close doors at the end of the night shift.
