About The Position

The Janitor helps prepare a mall for opening and keep it clean at closing. The role includes indoor and outdoor cleaning, waste removal, washroom upkeep, and safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens. The employee uses appropriate cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and performs other janitorial duties as needed.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of building-cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Familiarity with the proper use of cleaning chemicals in compliance with regulations.
• Understanding of hazardous-material and blood-borne-pathogen disposal procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the mall is ready for opening and cleaned at closing time.
• Keep sidewalks free of garbage.
• Use leaf blowers and power-wash areas.
• Remove garbage from waste containers throughout the mall and clean litter from walkways; lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Use proper cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens according to applicable regulations.
• Perform routine cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors and cleaning walls and windows.
• Maintain washroom cleanliness, conduct hourly checks, and restock supplies.
• Perform other janitorial duties as required.
