About The Position

This position supports Goodwill Industries of San Antonio by performing janitorial and maintenance tasks, including cleaning, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, and cleaning windows. The role supports Goodwill’s mission to help change lives through the power of work and provides customer service while maintaining clean, safe facilities.

Requirements

1 to 2 years of experience in a commercial cleaning environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to analyze and evaluate situations and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.
Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, floor stripping and waxing, and chemical usage.
Ability to use cleaning equipment, including a buffer, carpet extractor, and grout hog.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
For positions requiring driving: maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and travel as needed when using a personal vehicle for company business.

Responsibilities

Strip floor finishes using approved removers and procedures, leaving floors clean and uniform when dry.
Apply floor finish according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Shampoo carpets and remove spots, stains, and discoloration.
Clean exterior window surfaces, including frames, casing, sills, and glass.
Remove, wash, and replace Venetian blinds.
Dry-buff or spray-buff floor surfaces.
Manually scrub ceramic or tile floors with disinfectant solutions to remove soil, minerals, algae, and mildew.
Follow Loss Prevention, inventory control, compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures.
Report irregularities and potential problems at contract sites to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Follow safety requirements, wear safety equipment, use chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer directions, and attend required training.
Keep facilities clean and hazard-free by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms.
Dispose of trash and unusable merchandise in designated containers and in an appropriate manner.
Maintain good housekeeping standards and dependable attendance and punctuality.
Provide friendly, professional customer service by greeting and assisting people and responding to questions or concerns.
Safeguard donations and Goodwill property and resources from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal.
Promptly investigate or participate in investigations of reported incidents.
Vacuum carpeted areas and remove stains or spills promptly.
Dust areas as necessary and take care with team members’ belongings.
