About The Position

This is a permanent, Title 32 excepted service IT Specialist (Customer Support), GS-2210-11 position in the Network Systems Flight of an Air National Guard Combat Communications Squadron, part of the CA 147 CBCS. The role designs, deploys, installs, operates, maintains, modifies, and recovers communications electronics information technology systems and components. The incumbent plans, coordinates, and directs mission accomplishment and training workload for the Theater Deployable Communications work center. The position also manages Network Control Center requirements supporting operational, training, and readiness missions, including Risk Management Framework and Time Compliance Technical Order network management, communications security, cybersecurity risk assessments, and encryption requirements. California National Guard membership and a compatible military assignment and grade are required. The selectee must wear the military uniform, maintain an appropriate security clearance and required information assurance certification, and comply with applicable military assignment, grade, and grooming requirements. The position requires at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09, or qualifying education or a combination of education and experience. New appointees may be required to complete a one- or two-year trial period. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized subject to funding and approval; PCS relocation costs are not authorized. The announcement states that additional selections may be made within 90 days of issuance of the eligible list.

Requirements

California National Guard membership is required; selectees must maintain a compatible military assignment, unit, grade, and job assignment.
Military grade must be E-3 through E-7.
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09, including experience applying techniques and requirements in a computer applications or specialty area; planning assignment actions involving coordination beyond the organizational unit and project controls; adapting guidelines or precedents; and preparing and organizing cost-benefit study documentation.
Alternatively, qualifying education may substitute for experience: a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in a listed field; a degree providing at least 24 semester hours in a listed field and requiring development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks; three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or a qualifying combination of education and experience.
Maintain the appropriate level of security clearance; at a minimum, a National Agency Check is required.
Obtain and maintain the required information assurance certification under DOD Instruction 8570.01-M.
Wear the appropriate military uniform and meet required grooming standards.
Participate in direct deposit.
Submit required transcripts and/or certificates with the application when using education or certification to meet requirements; education must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
Serve a one- or two-year trial period if required.
