About The Position

Responsible for installing and servicing security alarms, CCTV, and access-control systems. Work includes roughing in electrical boxes and conduit, pulling and terminating multiconductor cables, network programming, troubleshooting, and testing related systems. The position also performs administrative functions, inspections, testing, training, and reporting, and issues security access media for the CRAA-approved Airport Security Program. The technician conducts security checks, inspections, and tests to protect CRAA information and infrastructure from internal and external threats. This position reports to the Manager, Information Technology Operations. It performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of security equipment and testing equipment; helps plan and implement security systems and infrastructure; and coordinates with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders on designs, specifications, and projects. The role also uses a range of power, hand, fiber, testing, and office equipment, and communicates with airport officials, employees, contractors, vendors, tenants, clients, and the public.

Requirements

Associate degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Conduct security checks, inspections, and tests to protect CRAA information and infrastructure from internal and external threats.
Monitor and audit security practices for compliance with applicable federal, state, and local airport security laws.
Issue security access media and verify compliance with TSA-approved airport security access protocols.
Install, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair security alarms, CCTV, access controls, and related equipment.
Perform electrical rough-in work, install conduit, pull and terminate multiconductor cables, and carry out network programming and testing.
Serve as a technical expert for security systems, including assembling systems or prototypes and collaborating with engineers on security systems and infrastructure.
Develop short- and long-term plans to meet airport security needs and mandated requirements and to adhere to the Airport Security Plan.
Resolve on-site technical design issues involving security systems equipment.
Develop conceptual designs and technical specifications and oversee implementation of new security systems and projects.
Review design-team technical reviews and plan specifications.
Coordinate with external contractors implementing new systems and modifying existing systems.
Operate and maintain test equipment, airport systems that simulate operating conditions, fiber tools and splicers, aerial lifts, forklifts, power tools, hand tools, and other equipment.
Use a personal computer and relevant software to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data and perform general office functions.
Communicate with airport officials, supervisors, employees, clients, contractors, vendors, tenants, the public, and others to coordinate work, exchange information, review status, or resolve problems.
Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems.
Set up or operate test equipment to evaluate security equipment parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions.
