About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Security Systems Technician to install, set up, and program integrated fire and security systems at commercial customer sites. The technician may also dismantle and reconstruct equipment as needed, prepare estimates, test systems, and coordinate installations with relevant emergency services. The role may include managing installation teams on larger projects and coaching less experienced installers.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 5 years of electrical and electronic equipment experience, with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
Ability to operate hand and power tools.
Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely at all times.
Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Some technical school training.

Responsibilities

Install appropriate devices and dismantle or reconstruct equipment as required by the customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
Work safely and responsibly to prevent injuries, property damage, and material loss, and clean up installation debris.
Contact customers before scheduled installation dates to verify the schedule.
Prepare estimates in accordance with supervisor instructions or directions.
Follow schematic wiring diagrams and hookup procedures.
Test system operation to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
Read building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints as required.
Coordinate installations with police and fire departments and maintain records for emergency-call notifications.
Manage installation teams on larger projects when needed.
Coach and mentor less experienced installers.
