About The Position

Office Hours is seeking its first dedicated IT Operations Lead to manage all systems, devices, and access essential for company operations. This is a hands-on role encompassing end-user support, device and fleet management, SaaS and identity administration, office infrastructure, and the technical aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding. The role involves configuring access and tooling to meet security requirements, in collaboration with Legal and Compliance. This position offers a high degree of independence, allowing the individual to set priorities, develop processes, and be the primary point of contact for IT operations. The role is for a company of approximately 60 people across San Francisco, New York, and remote locations, with a growing tool stack and infrastructure requiring dedicated ownership.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years in IT operations or systems administration, ideally at a startup with in-person and remote employees.
  • Experience as the sole or first IT hire, or equivalent experience operating with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Fluent, daily use of AI tools in your own work, with opinions on effectiveness and ability to teach others.
  • Strong hands-on administration of Google Workspace.
  • Strong hands-on administration of an identity provider such as Okta.
  • Strong hands-on administration of Mac fleet management through an MDM.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a modern SaaS stack, including access management, licensing, and cost control.
  • Sound judgment regarding independent handling of issues versus escalation.
  • Patient, service-oriented approach with non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience configuring security controls against an established framework.
  • Experience with multi-site network and AV setup.

  • Direct experience driving AI adoption across a non-technical population.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT and systems questions, triaging and resolving hardware, software, and access issues.
  • Build documentation and guidance for self-service IT support and effective use of AI tools.
  • Own hardware procurement, deployment, and lifecycle tracking.
  • Manage MDM enrollment and configuration for a distributed Mac fleet, including inventory and budget.
  • Administer the identity provider and SSO, manage role-based access, and conduct regular access reviews.
  • Administer the company's SaaS tool stack, evaluate and implement new tools, and manage vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, licenses, and seat allocation.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate tools and reduce redundant spending.
  • Administer the AI stack, including access, licensing, and usage visibility.
  • Maintain office infrastructure, including network, connectivity, printers, peripherals, and conference room/all-hands AV systems in San Francisco and New York offices.
  • Manage the technical aspects of employee onboarding (hardware setup, account provisioning) and offboarding (account deactivation, access revocation, asset recovery).
  • Implement and maintain security configurations across systems, support remediation efforts, and collaborate with security owners.
  • Develop runbooks, workflows, and automation to ensure the scalability of the IT operations function.
  • Provide documentation, training, and hands-on support to help employees effectively use AI tools.
  • Advise leadership on AI tool adoption, cost, and appropriate use.
