IT Infrastructure Engineer

Crenlo•Bentonville, AR
•Onsite

About The Position

The IT Infrastructure Engineer designs, builds, and supports infrastructure for Crenlo’s plants in Watertown, South Dakota; Rochester, Minnesota; and Greeneville, Tennessee, as well as its corporate office in Bentonville, Arkansas. The role owns systems including VMware, Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft 365, backup, and datacenter operations. It also serves as the next-level resource for network escalation, design, engineering, and implementation, while the Network Administrator handles day-to-day network operations. Because production depends on this infrastructure, uptime, security, and fast recovery are central priorities. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the engineer works closely with the helpdesk and Network Administration. The role is suited to someone who can resolve complex issues, address root causes to prevent recurrence, communicate technical problems clearly, maintain thorough documentation, and work comfortably in manufacturing environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on infrastructure experience covering both systems and networking.
  • Hands-on VMware vSphere/ESXi administration experience.
  • Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365/Entra ID administration skills.
  • Linux administration experience with RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar, and PowerShell/Bash scripting skills.
  • Veeam or comparable backup experience, including restores and disaster recovery testing.
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Datacenter operations experience involving servers, storage, power, and cabling.
  • Ability to travel between Crenlo facilities, with travel of up to 20%.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing floor environments and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • ITSM experience, with Freshservice preferred, and familiarity with NIST CSF or CIS Controls.
  • Use of AI tools such as Claude to speed up scripting, documentation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Administer VMware vSphere/ESXi, including host builds, capacity planning, and patching.
  • Maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Own Veeam backup and replication, including restore testing and offsite and immutable copies.
  • Build and test disaster recovery plans for production-critical systems.
  • Run datacenter operations, including power, cabling, storage capacity, and hardware lifecycle, and support consolidation and colocation moves.
  • Design and implement network infrastructure across sites, including Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, Dell core switching, and Ubiquiti UniFi firewalls, switching, and wireless.
  • Set network standards and design segmentation separating production equipment, industrial controls, and IoT devices from business networks.
  • Plan wireless networks for offices and production floors and lead SD-WAN and WAN changes with carriers.
  • Document completed network builds and hand them off to the Network Administrator; provide backup coverage as needed.
  • Work with IT Security on firewall policy, access controls, and incident response.
  • Serve as the helpdesk’s Tier 3 escalation point, resolve root causes, and share fixes to help more issues get resolved at first contact.

  • Lead infrastructure projects from design through cutover.
  • Manage infrastructure vendors and carriers against their SLAs and provide input on purchases and capital planning.
