IT Help Desk Intern

About The Position

The IT Help Desk Intern supports the City of Flagstaff’s IT team by helping employees stay connected, productive, and equipped with the technology needed to serve the community. The role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment and includes front-line support for hardware and software challenges, customer service, ticket documentation, device inventory work, and assistance with IT projects. The position also supports devices and software used by the City of Flagstaff Police Division and requires careful handling of confidential information and data access.

Requirements

Actively working toward completion of a two- or four-year degree in computer science, a related field, or the area of assignment, or equivalent coursework.
Some IT-related professional or educational experience.
Strong customer service and communication skills or experience.
Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Regular attendance is an essential function of the job to ensure continuity.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Document work order requests and resolutions promptly in the IT ticketing software.
Work under the direction of the Help Desk Team Lead and/or other internal IT teams to assist with larger projects as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and security when accessing data and confidential information.
Assist with support of the City of Flagstaff Police Division’s devices and software.
Assist with the Device Inventory Project.
Answer Help Desk phone calls, monitor email, greet and assist walk-up requests, and monitor and address incoming Help Desk tickets.
Provide front-line assistance to end users with hardware- and software-related challenges.
May assist with the annual device replacement cycle, including device installation and decommissioning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
