About The Position

The Sr. Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for leading the end-to-end secure operations of core compute systems infrastructure both on-prem and cloud including high availability, replication, DR preparation and testing. This role ensures close integration with other business applications to maintain a highly integrated and available platform for mission critical logistics operations. Lead the development of standards and partner with other team members to support the IT mission.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in enterprise infrastructure engineering, with 4+ years of hands-on Nutanix administration (AHV, Prism, AOS lifecycle) at production scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously — setting technical direction, prioritizing initiatives, and guiding architecture decisions.
  • Track record of leading disaster recovery programs, including designing test strategy and owning results and remediation.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar); integration with and migration to platform-agnostic infrastructure preferred
  • Strong documentation discipline — able to convert tribal knowledge and undocumented systems into clear runbooks and standards.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and enterprise networking (firewalls, VPN, VLANs).
  • Proficiency in SQL Server environments and Windows Failover Clustering support.
  • Scripting ability in PowerShell and/or Python for infrastructure automation and reporting.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or informally leading technical initiatives without formal management authority.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) and cloud identity synchronization.
  • Familiarity with endpoint and security concepts and tools (such as XDR, SASE, DLP) and security patch management.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance windows and incident response on a rotating basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience leading or contributing to an on-prem-to-cloud infrastructure migration.
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or higher; cloud certifications (AZ-104/AZ-800, AWS SysOps/Solutions Architect) a plus.
  • Knowledge with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and/or Parallels RAS, especially platform migrations.
  • Experience with NAS, Wasabi or other S3-compatible cloud storage, and ShareFile administration.
  • Exposure to warehouse automation, AWS, or WMS environments in a 3PL or logistics setting.
  • Experience w/ Ansible and Terraform for automated deployments

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end architecture, administration, and roadmap for compute infrastructure.
  • Set standards for cluster health, host/VM performance, storage utilization, and resource allocation; drive continuous optimization.
  • Lead lifecycle management including firmware, AOS, and hypervisor upgrades; independently troubleshoot complex hardware and virtualization issues.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and network/DR diagrams; participate in change management and capacity planning.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance and incident response as required.
  • Own DR architecture, including Replication, Protection Policies, and Recovery Plans; define validation cadence and lead monthly Recovery Plan validation.
  • Design and lead quarterly disaster recovery testing; report results and risk posture to leadership.
  • Author and maintain disaster recovery documentation, runbooks, and recovery procedures as the DR program owner.
  • Administer physical and virtual Windows/Linux servers; monitor health, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot OS, application, hardware, and storage issues.
  • Manage provisioning, decommissioning, migrations, upgrades, and clustered/HA environments; maintain configuration standards.
  • Administer Active Directory across four Domain Controllers, Group Policy, and account/OU administration; monitor AD replication.
  • Administer DNS/DHCP, Certificate Services, authentication troubleshooting, and identity sync with cloud services.
  • Administer domain registration and external DNS, including renewals, & SSL/DNS verification.
  • Develop PowerShell/Python solutions for infrastructure automation, API integrations, monitoring, reporting, and asset inventory sync.
  • Support SQL Server cluster health and performance; support Windows Failover Clustering, backup validation, restore testing, and replication monitoring.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, and Power Automate; manage licensing and provisioning.
  • Support the full identity lifecycle: provisioning/deprovisioning, AD/M365 administration, security groups, and periodic access reviews.
  • Administer three on-prem and cloud-based File Servers, cloud replication, secure file exchange with partners including permissions, security, and auditing.
