2028 Investment Associate Intern - Hackathon Immersion

Bridgewater Associates•New York City, NY

About The Position

Bridgewater is hiring Investment Associate interns to experience its fundamental and systematic investment process. Interns will develop their own macroeconomic and market views from the first week, with the opportunity to take positions in markets Bridgewater trades using the in-house Investor Track Record tool. The internship follows the firm’s research process: identifying important economic and market dynamics, synthesizing views, and working with investors to translate ideas into data and mathematical expressions that can be stress-tested over time. Interns also receive markets and macroeconomic training through an abridged version of the first-year Investment Associate class, including foundational frameworks, analytical methods, and introductory exposure to Bridgewater’s technology stack. The Hackathon Immersion is an invitation-only event for students in their sophomore year who are exploring a future in markets, trading, or macro research. Participants work with Deputy Chief Investment Officer Blake Cecil and Bridgewater investors and systemizers to develop and defend an original concept, collaborate with engineers and investors on agentic workflows, custom tools, and predictive systems, and build and demonstrate a working prototype addressing a live market puzzle. Bridgewater provides hotel accommodation for up to two nights and covers travel costs to attend. Applicants must be interested in and apply to the Summer Investment Internship to be considered for the Hackathon Immersion. Candidates for the Investment Associate Intern position must be eligible to work in the United States for at least three years from their start date. H-1B visa sponsorship and post-graduation optional practical training support are available only to candidates with STEM degrees. The posting describes an eight-week internship and lists total compensation of $71,000, including a sign-on bonus, plus housing. The event information is provided as a reference because applications for this year's Immersion Event are not yet open.
