Bridgewater is hiring Investment Associate Interns for an eight-week Summer 2028 internship. Investment Associates generate macroeconomic and market insights, build investment systems, and oversee portfolios. Interns will work on real investment questions and projects, such as macroeconomic research, developing trading concepts, researching policies that affect markets, converting qualitative logical relationships into systematic indicators using LLMs, or creating AI tools for investment research. Starting in the first week, interns will form their own macroeconomic and market views and may use their intern compensation to enter positions in actual markets Bridgewater trades through its Investor Track Record tool. Interns will also receive an abridged version of the first-year Investment Associate training, covering foundational frameworks, research methods, and Bridgewater's technology stack. The role is intended for curious, independent, conceptual, and analytical thinkers who can draw insights from varied disciplines, collaborate intensively, persevere through ambiguous problems, and continually seek to improve. The position requires eligibility to work in the United States for at least three years from the start date. H-1B sponsorship and post-graduation optional practical training support are available only to candidates with STEM degrees. Total compensation is $71,000 for the eight-week internship, including a sign-on bonus, less applicable deductions and withholdings. Housing is also included in the compensation package. Candidates applying for the 2028 Investment Associate Internship may be invited to a full-day Macro Investing Immersion event at Bridgewater's New York City office on January 8, 2027. The event includes an introduction to Bridgewater's investment process, a live trading game and trade-pitch workshop, and opportunities to connect with senior investors. It is intended for students graduating in 2029 who are exploring markets, trading, or macro research. Bridgewater will provide hotel accommodation for up to two nights, January 7–9, 2027, and cover travel costs to attend.
