2028 Investment Associate Intern - Macro Investing Immersion

Bridgewater Associates Campus Recruiting•New York, NY

About The Position

Bridgewater is hiring Investment Associate Interns for its Summer 2028 investment internship. Investment Associates generate macroeconomic and market insights, build investment systems, and oversee portfolios. The internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to a fundamental and systematic investment process through real projects addressing live questions investors are working on. Projects may include macroeconomic research, developing trading concepts, building expertise on policies that affect markets, using large language models to convert qualitative links into systematic indicators, or creating AI tools to automate investment research. Beginning in the first week, interns are expected to form their own macroeconomic and market views. They may use their internship compensation to take positions in actual markets Bridgewater trades through the firm's Investor Track Record tool, with Bridgewater taking the other side. Interns also receive an abridged version of the first-year Investment Associate training, covering foundational frameworks, research methods, and the firm's technology stack. The internship lasts eight weeks. Total compensation is $71,000, including a sign-on bonus, and the compensation package includes housing. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for at least three years from their start date. H-1B sponsorship and support for post-graduation optional practical training are available only to candidates with STEM degrees. Applicants to the 2028 Investment Associate Internship may also be considered for an invitation-only, full-day Macro Investing Immersion event at Bridgewater's New York City office on January 8, 2027. The event is designed for students graduating in 2029 and includes an introduction to Bridgewater's investment process, a live trading game and trade-pitch workshop, and discussions with senior investors. Bridgewater will provide hotel accommodation for up to two nights, January 7–9, 2027, and cover travel costs for the event.
