About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with Empower College Prep (ECP) located at 2411 W Colter Street Phoenix AZ 85001, whose mission is to empower students to become curious learners, critical thinkers, and confident leaders prepared for college, career, and life. This CSLP student worker position is approved for Community Service, providing services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on ECP's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Eligibility for summer work is also available. Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support during small-group instruction to promote scholar understanding and successful completion of teacher-assigned work.
  • Create graphics such as posters and anchor charts.
  • Make copies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
