About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, specifically Empower College Prep (ECP), to provide community service opportunities for students. ECP's mission is to empower students to become curious learners, critical thinkers, and confident leaders prepared for college, career, and life. This student worker position is approved as Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) and Federal Work-Study (FWS), meaning the services provided are open and accessible to the community, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents. The work schedule is dependent on ECP's operational needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and potential for summer employment. Applicants must complete the FAFSA to be considered for FWS eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with resolving technical issues by collaborating with ECP staff.
  • Utilize the Lightspeed system to monitor curriculum participation and uphold academic integrity.
  • Maintain effective classroom supervision by taking attendance, monitoring student conduct, and coordinating with the Culture Team when disciplinary issues arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
