About The Position

This position is for a student worker in the EPIC Lab within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Grand Canyon University (GCU). The role involves assisting with various lab tasks, including animal care, data logging, and administrative duties. The student will work closely with the vivarium leadership team and the entire lab team, and will be responsible for communicating supply needs. The position requires excellent communication and computer skills, a service-oriented attitude, and familiarity with GCU's campus.

Proficient typing skills
Comfortable working in a professional environment with all levels of staff and faculty
Service-oriented
Comfortable with GCU’s campus and departments
Prior computer knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Self-motivated with a desire to learn and serve
Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program
Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University

Responsibilities

Assist in weekly cage cleaning
Weigh rats weekly and maintain weight log
Be present for testing sessions Monday – Saturday, 11:00 – 3:00 as needed
Maintain testing log and video database
Be present for weekly meet ups with vivarium leadership team
Be present for weekly lab meeting with entire team
Monitor and communicate with vivarium coordinator regarding PPE/food/bedding orders
Operate and maintain equipment
Copy, scan, and fax documents
Direct guests, students, and staff on campus
