About The Position

This is an unpaid volunteer position for individuals seeking a flexible hours engagement role to gain valuable work experience while helping further the efforts of ARO’s mission in assisting victims of abuse. The role offers the flexibility of working in a virtual environment and interacting worldwide with others who share a passion for making a difference. It provides opportunities for skill development, departmental cross-training, leadership roles, mentoring, and excelling within a chosen vocation. The position requires a commitment of 10+ hours per week and is best suited for individuals seeking a longer-term volunteer opportunity (12+ months preferred). ARO is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) focused on assisting those abused in 21 major areas of abuse. Currently, ARO is only hiring female identifying volunteers due to a BFOQ policy, with plans to expand opportunities in the future.

Requirements

  • Must be available to volunteer 10+ hours/week
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in developing internship processes and an internship program.
  • Supervisory experience and leading a team.
  • A true team player who loves brainstorming with others and celebrating collective wins.
  • Experience in reviewing and/or developing training content.
  • Highly proficient in English with a proven track record of clear written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • US-based or in a similar time zone nearby.
  • Longer-term volunteer opportunity (12+ months preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of Internship Coordinators in developing internship processes, procedures, and new programs.
  • Interview prospective interns and determine the best department for them to work in.
  • Develop learning objectives and goals with each intern.
  • Manage intern performance and evaluations while ensuring compliance with all university academic requirements.
  • Reply to emails from interns' webmail box.
  • Act as a liaison between the interns and the different ARO departments they are working in.
  • Act as a resource for interns to answer any questions they have throughout their internship.
  • Collaborate with leadership, including the Global Executive Director, to ensure program compliance.
  • Identify intern training needs.
  • Provide administrative support.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Attend ARO Company Meeting the second Tuesday of each month at 12:30pm EST.
  • Lead 1:1 meetings with interns during initial training and meetings as needed thereafter to include the possibility of team meetings.
