About The Position

Vandergriff Chevrolet is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Internal Service Advisor to oversee the reconditioning process for new and pre-owned inventory. This position works directly with the Used Car Manager, Sales Department, Service Department, Parts Department, Body Shop, and vendors to ensure vehicles are repaired, reconditioned, and frontline-ready while meeting quality, budget, and timeline expectations.

Requirements

  • Previous dealership experience required.
  • Working knowledge of CDK Dealer Services, Xtime, and vAuto required.
  • Strong understanding of automotive maintenance, repair, and reconditioning processes.
  • Ability to interpret technician recommendations and repair estimates.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple vehicles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Internal Service Advisor, Service Advisor, Recon Manager, Inventory Manager, or similar experience preferred.
  • Chevrolet, GM, or franchise dealership experience.
  • Experience managing used vehicle reconditioning workflows.
  • Knowledge of inventory turn, recon budgeting, and inventory management best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming trade-ins, auction purchases, and inventory vehicles to determine reconditioning needs.
  • Open, manage, and close internal repair orders (ROs) using CDK.
  • Utilize V-Auto to prioritize inventory based on age, market conditions, and sales needs.
  • Schedule and monitor vehicle reconditioning through Xtime and dealership workflow processes.
  • Write accurate repair orders for technicians, detailing required repairs and reconditioning needs.
  • Coordinate repairs with Service, Parts, Collision Center, Detail Department, and outside vendors.
  • Review technician inspections and repair recommendations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Obtain approvals for additional repairs and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Track parts availability and work closely with the Parts Department to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all safety recalls, emissions inspections, state inspections, and required maintenance are completed.
  • Monitor vehicle status daily and provide updates to Sales Managers and dealership leadership.
  • Maintain vehicle reconditioning budgets and identify opportunities to control costs.
  • Prioritize inventory to reduce days-to-line and improve inventory turn rates.
  • Coordinate transportation, sublet repairs, paintless dent repair, glass replacement, wheel repair, and other vendor services.
  • Verify completion of multi-point inspections and quality control processes.
  • Ensure vehicles meet Vandergriff Chevrolet standards before being placed into inventory.
  • Resolve production delays and workflow bottlenecks to keep inventory moving efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed records and reporting within dealership management systems.
  • Follow all dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and compliance requirements.
