About The Position

Werner Enterprises’ summer internship program offers an 11-week immersion designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experience. This is a paid internship with dedicated job training and learning opportunities in a collaborative, inclusive work environment.

The Intermodal Intern – Final Mile supports intermodal operations through carrier communication, shipment tracking, issue resolution, and assistance with fleet and equipment needs. The role includes training on Werner’s EDGE TMS, Blume, Tableau, railroad websites, and Skybitz. Internship development activities include Lessons with Leaders sessions, a mentor program, intern activities, community support events, networking, and a summer project proposal and presentation.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented approach.
• Time management proficiency.
• Currently attending an accredited college or university at the junior level while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Logistics/Transportation, Management, or Marketing.

Nice To Haves

• Previous customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicate daily with the Intermodal carrier base and solve problems.
• Track and trace Intermodal dray shipments.
• Collaborate with various Werner departments to resolve issues.
• Assist with Werner fleet and equipment needs.
• Participate in system training on Werner’s EDGE TMS, Blume, Tableau, railroad websites, and Skybitz.
• Participate in internship development activities, including a summer project proposal and presentation.
