About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for the PHIL 3P80 Environmental Philosophy course for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) or $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy with demonstrated competence or specialization in Environmental Philosophy
  • Evidence of recent, competent and effective teaching experience in Philosophy at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations)
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and online teaching technology skills (e.g., Sakai, MS Teams, MS Streams, etc.)
  • Prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of Philosophy

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
  • Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
