About The Position
This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course PHIL 2P00 Pre-Socratics to Plato. The compensation for a half course is $7,887.59 and for a full course is $15,775.20, effective September 1, 2026. Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as lecture preparation, student consultation, marking and grading, course administration, grade appeals, and cases of academic dishonesty, in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Philosophy, with at least demonstrated competence in Ancient Philosophy.
- Evidence of recent, competent and effective teaching experience in Philosophy at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations).
- Demonstrated organizational, communication and online teaching technology (e.g., Sakai, MS Teams, MS Streams, etc.) skills.
- Prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of Philosophy.
Nice To Haves
- A specialization in Ancient Philosophy is preferred.
