About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for CHYS 3V94 Winter D3 - Children's Participation. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group and is effective September 1, 2026. The compensation is $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

  • PhD in Child and Youth Studies, Sociology, or related discipline. Senior doctoral candidates will be considered if no qualified applicants are found.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate students about practices, theories, controversies and contemporary issues in young people's participation, including the tension between participation and protection. Topics may include children's involvement in decision-making; cultural contributions; involvement in production and consumption; and children's activism.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
