About The Position
Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for CHYS 4P10 Winter D3 - Introduction to Counselling Practice. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for this role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) or $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Requirements
- PhD in Child and Youth Studies, Counselling Psychology, or related discipline. Senior doctoral candidates will be considered if no qualified applicants are found.
- Teaching, research, and practice-based experience in mental health and counselling within the context of child and youth studies, education, social services, and health.
- Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations required).

- Familiarity with a diversity of theoretical, disciplinary, and practice-based perspectives, including nature therapies and expressive therapies.
Responsibilities
- Scheduled contact time with students
- Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
- Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
