About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking an Instructor to teach Introduction to Education. This role involves actively participating in the primary duties of the course, which includes providing students with an overview of education and managing student classroom observation hours. The instructor will be responsible for meeting all classes as scheduled, teaching assigned courses that align with catalog descriptions and course outlines, and ensuring students achieve course objectives. A detailed course outline will be provided to each student at the beginning of the course, including information on goals, objectives, content, textbooks, attendance, behavior, grading, and office hours. Assignments may vary in terms of courses, days, times, locations (including multiple campuses), modes (classroom and online), and hours (morning, afternoon, evening, weekends) from semester to semester.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, ESL or other related degrees.
  • 3+ years of special education teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or Ed.D in Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Studies, Educational Leadership, or other related degrees.
  • 3+ years of special education teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Introduction to Education.
  • Be actively involved in the primary duties of the course.
  • Provide students an overview of education.
  • Manage student's classroom observation hours.
  • Meet all classes at the time, place and length of time designated.
  • Teach courses as assigned which correlate with the catalog descriptions and course outlines in a manner designed to assist the student to achieve the specific objectives of the course.
  • Provide each student at the beginning of each course with a course outline.
  • Provide information about office hour availability and appointment procedures.
  • Provide other information that advises students of those requirements established by the instructor for meeting the course objectives.
