About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for SOCI 2P00 - Foundations and Sociological Thinking for the Fall 2026 term. This position involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time, including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration. The course delivery is in person on Tuesdays from 14:00 to 16:00. Instructors responsible for a 2-hour/week lecture are also responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Requirements

• PhD in Sociology or closely related discipline with demonstrated breadth of university training in sociological theory, from classical to contemporary.
• Doctoral candidates in Sociology or a related discipline with graduate course work and comprehensive exams completed (ABD) with training in sociological theory, from classical to contemporary, will also be considered.
• Specialization in sociological theory, critical thinking and expression in Sociology.
• Demonstrated success teaching sociological theory, critical thinking and expression in Sociology.
• Demonstrated research in fields of study related to the course.
• Demonstrated success teaching large, required university courses.
