Teaching Assistant SOCI 2P00 Fall D2-1
About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the SOCI 2P00 Foundations in Sociological Thinking course for the Fall term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Compensation is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Requirements
- Masters Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated teaching competence (e.g., summary of previous course evaluations, faculty evaluations)
- Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines, recognizing that there are periods of intensive work associated with the position.
Nice To Haves
- Students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 15 or more credits) in Sociology or equivalent (with an 80% average or higher) will be considered if vacancies remain.
