Teaching Assistant SOCI 1P91 Fall D2-1
About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for SOCI 1P91 - Introduction to Sociology II for the Fall D2-1 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Compensation will be based on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour, effective September 1, 2026. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required, in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement.
Requirements
- Masters Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent.
- Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated teaching competence. (eg. summary of previous course evaluations, faculty evaluations)
- Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines, recognizing that there are periods of intensive work associated with the position.
Nice To Haves
- Students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 15 or more credits) in Sociology or equivalent (with an 80% average or higher) will be considered if vacancies remain.
