About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for Math 1P70, Mathematics in Culture, for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration. Requirements

  • PhD in Mathematics or a related discipline. (In the absence of PhD applicants, applicants with an MSc in Mathematics or Statistics will be considered.)
  • Prior teaching and/or research experience in Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated success in the teaching of first-year undergraduate university mathematics courses, particularly those designed for non-science students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the role of mathematics in past and contemporary cultures and its applications to science, society and the arts.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations).

  • Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
  • Responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course if employed in a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent.

Benefits

  • Compensation Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally)
  • Compensation Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally)
