About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for Math 1P70: Mathematics in Culture. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for this role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) and $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • PhD in Mathematics/Statistics or equivalent is required (Masters or equivalent will be considered in the absence of PhD applicants)
  • Demonstrated success in teaching first-year undergraduate university mathematics courses, particularly for non-science students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the role of mathematics in past and contemporary cultures and its applications to science, society, and the arts

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
  • Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
