About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) WGST 2P93 Beauty, Bodies and Cultures course. The compensation for a half course is $7,887.59 effective September 1, 2026, for nominally 195 hours. Instructors are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course if the course has a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent. Duties and responsibilities include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, course administration, grade appeals, and cases of academic dishonesty, in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. This course may be held virtually online and/or face to face during the term, and instructors must be able to deliver the material in either format. Applications require a cover letter, a current resume, and may include seniority date, letters of reference, and course/performance evaluations. Positions are subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Women’s Studies or related area with demonstrated university training in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. course work, dissertation topic)
  • Demonstrable, substantive interdisciplinary training
  • Demonstrated successful university teaching experience (i.e. course instructor, teaching assistant) in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues, demonstrated via course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier
  • Demonstrated research in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. thesis research, publications, conference presentations, community-based projects/action relevant to the study of women’s lives from sociocultural, political, institutional, theoretical, historical, philosophical and/or literary perspectives)
