About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course Gender and Violence. The compensation for this position is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) or $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Women’s Studies or related area with demonstrated university training in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. course work, dissertation topic).
  • Demonstrable, substantive interdisciplinary training.
  • Demonstrated successful university teaching experience (i.e. course instructor, teaching assistant) in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues. Success can be demonstrated via course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier.
  • Demonstrated research in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. thesis research, publications, conference presentations, community-based projects/action relevant to the study of women’s lives from sociocultural, political, institutional, theoretical, historical, philosophical and/or literary perspectives).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
