About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) DART 3P51 D3 (Winter) Performing Style and Genre Development of acting skills and techniques for performing historical styles associated with various text-based theatrical genres. Genres may include Comedy of Manners, Farce, Epic Theatre, Post-Realism, or Post Dramatic theatre. Half course: Lab, 5 hours per week SEC 1: Tuesdays 14:00 – 17:00, Thursdays 13:00 – 15:00.

Requirements

  • PhD or MFA in acting or directing for theatre or a relevant, related discipline, and training in voice for theatre and recognized approaches to style and genre in text-based theatre.
  • Significant professional and/or scholarly contributions to acting or directing for theatre or a relevant, related discipline, including professional experience in a range of styles and genres of performance.
  • Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience. Evidence of teaching effectiveness will ideally consist of a complete teaching dossier. Previous course evaluations, peer teaching evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, or equivalent objective, systematically collected evidence will also be considered.
  • Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence of expertise will ideally demonstrate how these principles are integrated into the applicant’s post-secondary teaching. Expertise may include, for example, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
