About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for DART 2P97 D3 (Winter) Canadian Dramaturgy. This course covers the theory and practice of dramaturgy through research and analysis of plays, creation processes, and productions in Canada. It is a half course, consisting of lectures and seminars, with 3 hours of contact time per week. The schedule includes a Wednesday lecture from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and two seminar options on Wednesdays: one from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and another from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Requirements

  • PhD in theatre and performance in Canada or a relevant, related discipline, with an emphasis on historical and contemporary dramaturgical practices.
  • Significant professional and/or scholarly contributions to dramaturgy in Canada.
  • Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., a complete teaching dossier, previous course evaluations, peer teaching evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, or equivalent objective, systematically collected evidence).
  • Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.

  • Evidence of expertise demonstrating how anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related principles are integrated into post-secondary teaching (e.g., scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training).

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students.
  • Preparation of lectures.
  • Student consultation.
  • Marking and grading.
  • Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
  • Responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
