About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for ARTL 3P14: Dramatic Creation for Contemporary Cultural Practice – D3. This course, also offered as IADM 3P14, MLLC 3P14, and VISA 3P14, focuses on the components of dramatic story, including character, dramatic action, structure, direction, improvisation, tempo, rhythm, and voice and body potential. It involves both theory and practical application in projects for creators in the arts, media, and film. The course format is a seminar/workshop lasting 3 hours per week, delivered in a blended format with in-class sessions on Thursdays from 13:30-15:00 and online asynchronous components. The compensation for this position, effective September 1, 2026, is $7,887.59 per half course (nominally 195 hours) or $15,775.20 per full course (nominally 390 hours). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • Relevant MA, MFA or PhD.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and 3 letters of reference.
  • Appropriate professional affiliations.
  • Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.
