About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for ARTL 1P97: Language for the Arts: Interdisciplinary Approaches – D3. This course focuses on understanding interdisciplinary connections between the arts and reporting arts and culture. Examples may include photography, visual arts, new media art, performance, music, and dramatic arts. The course format is lectures/seminar, 3 hours per week, and is fully online and asynchronous. The compensation is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • Relevant MA or PhD in subjects of the Fine and Performing Arts and/or Writing for the Arts or similar field.
  • Must possess an understanding of the interdisciplinary connections between the arts.
  • Previous or current experience as a writer in the for-profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and three letters of reference.
  • Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching large classes (100 and over).

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in STAC/ARTL 1P96 or STAC/ARTL 1P97 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
